Thank you for your support of Pink Punk Day. The children had great fun admiring each other's pink outfits and accessories and I have to say the boys looked very handsome in their pink t-shirts!
Any medication that your children needs to take/ have applied during school time MUST be taken to the nurses by parents with instructions, Thanks.
Maths Passport.
We will soon be starting maths passports with the children and need your help to run this. Don’t worry if you have never done this before, Ms McGirr will be running a parent training session after half term. Please let you child’s class teacher know if you would like to help once a week for half an hour or more by sending an email. Julia Donaldson: We will be focusing on the author Julia Donaldson after the half term break. Julia Donaldson is an excellent children’s author who has written books such as; A Squash and a squeeze, Room on the Broom, the Gruffalo and many more. Click on this link to her website: http://www.juliadonaldson.co.uk/index.php Crafts: Both this week and the weeks following half term we need junk to create some models. Please send anything you can from the following: Rolls of tissue paper/ toilet paper Cardboard tubes Cardboard boxes all sizes Y2 was a very noisy corridor this week as Dubai Drummers came into to provide a fabulous experience of making music with the drums. Children had the opportunity to move to the beat and to create beats of their own, learning to vary the volume and quality of the sound. I'm sure you have already heard all about it from your children who clearly loved every minute! The French Department is aware of the technical issue with the Language Nut website and are in contact with the provider to solve this. They hope that it will be resolved as soon as possible.
Also, regarding the optional homework, it has been noted that some of the reading and writing may be too hard for Year 2 – if your child would like to do the homework please just concentrate on the listening and speaking. Hello Parents I hope you have all had a good week and had a lovely long weekend last week. Even though it has been a short week we have all been very busy!
You may have noticed that the newsletter and star of the week tabs have been removed from the year group pages - don't worry, you will still get newsletters, but from your class teachers on their class blogs. these will also have the star of the week. This means the information you will get will now be personalised to your child's class. The class blogs will be updated at least once a week on Thursdays and will contain information on: The past week's learning The following week's learning Photos of learning in action Birthday celebrations Star of the week They may also contain; links to resources to support your child's learning, requests for things needed in class You can make comments on photos and videos on there - please do, the children will love reading your feedback. Dear parents a huge thank you for your support with Chores for Calls; with finding suitable chores for your children, sourcing the international calling cards and conversing with your children about it. The children were able to clearly articulate what they had done for their chores and how this would benefit others and I'm sure you will agree it was a for a great cause.
Year 2 are very excited about the opportunity to explore our Science learning on Sound with the Dubai Drummers. We will be exploring how to change the volume, pitch and quality of sound using the drums and testing our rhythm too!
Parents please make sure that you have returned the permission slips and money by Sunday morning so that your child can join in this exciting activity. |
